A delicious pale ale, on tap in Meridian ID; served in a pint nonic.

A: Light-to-medium hazed gold; minimal head and lace. Attractive.

S: Surprisingly hoppy, fruity, citrusy, and tropically- juicy. Orange, citrus, grapefruit, pine, resin. Pith, mango.

T: More citrus and grapefruity-orange character with a moderate dose of pine and resiny bitterness. A good dose of pithy bitterness. Juicy and fruity for sure.

MF: Feels thicker than a traditional pale ale. Moderate bitterness and dryness.

O: Really, this has IPA written all over it. It’s a very hoppy pale. Pretty impressive.

these guys seem really underappreciated to me, ive liked all their beers, but nobody seems to give them much attention. this is an excellent citra pale ale, very modern as they go, real drinkable, always fresh in the market here in my experience, and better than what a lot of others are doing with these ingredients. looks like a pale ale not quite clear, with a little orange to the hue, and with an airy white head from the tap. it smells entirely of citra with the faintest malt backing, not sweet at all but just the essence of the grain. the hops to me, like citra almost always does when its fresh, taste like lemongrass and meyer lemon, citrusy but not acidic at all, soft and delicate almost, even though the hopping is robust, springy and blooming, warm and good. there is some bitterness here, but its citra so its kind of mild, just enough to push it to the pale ale range, flavor lasts for a long time even though the beer is on the dry side, and the whole thing is just fresh and balanced and easy drinking. technically very well done, simple but flavorful, and one i would pick over a whole range of its peers if given the option. maybe these beers from iron horse didnt used to be good and were rated poorly a long time ago, i dont know, they are all new to me, but they sure are good now...

Hazy orange with two fingers of cream color head. Rings of lace.
Smell is malty and citrus orange.
Taste is citrus orange zest with a dank pine bitterness.
Mouthfeel is light bodied with good carbonation. Finish is dry and mildly bitter.
Overall a tasty APA.

A fairly decent beer burnt orange in color. Served draught in a pint at the Iron Horse Brewery. This beer tasted citrusy and slightly hoppy. I have tried a couple beers from the Iron Horse Brewery and feel that this one falls slightly below the mark of the others. This beer was good, but it wasn't outstanding by any means.

Burnt orange color; white, frothy head, mild haze. Aroma of butterscotch, orange peel. Flavor falls out in front, leaves citrusy pith flavor to linger in the back. No detection of butter/butterscotch in the flavor. Medium body, rounded mouthfeel, a little light on the carbonation. I suppose diacetyl is acceptable in the style, however, the aroma is beyond what I would describe as moderate. Hops and malt are balanced but I was hoping for more of a showcase with the Citra hops.

Grunt fill from Albertsons. Medium golden body, hazy, one finger fluffy head. Looks great. Aroma doesn't give much away, little malts, hint of hops. Taste starts with some savory, peppery hops, malt base detectable underneath. Dry finish, a bit too dry. Hoppiness on the palate lingers, and stings a bit.
