Vanilla Death is a version of Quilters Irish Death made with vanilla beans. The beer was served in a straight pint glass and poured a dark mahogany color with a full head that was deep tan and had very good retention.
A sweet aroma hits the nose, the roasty notes are buried beneath the solid scent of vanilla. The flavor is much more reminiscent of cream soda than the base beer it's built on.
The body is good, full without being heavy. The beer suffers in drinkability because of the sweetness. I believe this is a one-off brew, so it should be tried if you see it. If it were a regular offering, I'd have a half-pint on occasion, but it wouldn't be a regular pour for me.
