brewed for the tree fort music festival, i had way higher hopes for this based on the name, thought it might actually be a stab at a lambic type, but that certainly is not the case, and this ends up being almost problematically light, not one of their best beers. its totally blonde from the tap, clear for the most part and no color at all from the fruit, not sure how raspberries wouldnt stain this at least a little pink, did they use real fruit? short white head fading fast, still some fizz, unremarkable. i dont smell much fruit either, a light maybe generic berry jam sweetness, but no real raspberries at all, slightly malty sweet too, and with just a little lactic pucker to it, nothing wild or interesting on the ferment at all, just a little acidity. the flavor is the same, the fruit is cheap, unnatural, and not really even very identifiable in the back half of this, the base beer is a blonde type with a little bacterial twang, clean enough there, but its too late to make this seem good, as the fruit part is both too light and too sweet at the same time, and there really isnt much else happening here. i get the idea of making a little fruited sour for the music festival, something low alcohol and refreshing, especially among all the cool strong ales that were pouring at this years event, but this is a miss, maybe the worst ive had from iron horse to date. thin in feel, not as lively as it could be, needs more acid to combat the fruit sweetness, and i did not want more than a small pour of this. a let down for sure...
