Poured from 22oz bomber into a dimpled mug.
Appearance: murky brownish body with a thick finger of frothy ivory foam. Head retention is decent, with a little chunky lace left on the glass, but it's a bit dark for a pale ale.
Smell: sweetish malt with a bit of caramel character. Hops are dank and a little fruity, with an almost berry-like character. I wonder if this is hopped with Belma?
Taste: malt is on the sweet side, much like the aroma. Hops are exactly as in the aroma; a little dank, a little fruity. Nothing complex or special here, but certainly a serviceable pale ale.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good carbonation and concomitant creaminess. I like it quite a lot!
Overall: well-balanced; a totally decent and drinkable pale ale.

The Beer Shoppe anniversary ale for 2013. Pours a cloudy medium amber color with a slim head. A hint of musky hops in the smell. Average carbonation.
Some bitterness comes along after a few sips. It's sort of dank and leafy, but more what I can only describe as muddy. The redeeming feature is a little spiciness. This must be malty, but any flavors are lost under the leaf mold. Rather plain, grainy, and murky with a thin body. Bitter and sourish finish.
For for some reason I feel like this needs salt. Brewer claims this is dry-hopped with Mosaic hops, but if so, that is apparently not the right way to use them, since I have had several very tasty Mosaic-laced brews. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Bottleworks in the Wallingford neighborhood of Seattle.
