A very nice, unique hefeweizen. Didn't know anything about the brewery prior to this sample, but I am very pleased with this offering and will seek out other High Point brews.
Pours a very cloudy, very pale golden, with a nice fluffy head that retains itself well.
Smells pretty bad, very yeasty, and even strangly skunky (not quite the green-bottle-lager-skunky, but fairly pungent).
Taste makes up for this. Nothing wrong here. Maybe I am off-base, but it seems almost like a hybid of a hefeweizen and a Belgian-style Wit (it even looks and smells more like a Wit...though I am pretty sure there are no authentic belgian strains here) There is clove and banana mixed with nice yeasty, spicy kick. A touch of lemon present as well. Lovely taste all around. A non-traditional winner.
This is a stand-out brew. I'll be drinking more of this as summer approaches.
