Pretty weak for a Scotch Ale. Flavor isn’t bad, it’s just ‘light’.

From a 16 oz can, no date code that I can find. 4 Pak bought at Just Local Food in Eau Claire WI on 12/9/17. Dark amber, Almost brown. A Very Smooth Beer, Very drinkable. Low ABV it appears. Simple beer. Has a caramel or toffee flavor with hints of smoke and maybe chocolate. Semi sweet. Nothing Super Great or earth shattering here. But I like it. This stuff goes down fast. Kind a reminds me of old WI corn bocks of the past.

Originally reviewed April 9, 2005. On tap at the Gitchee Gumme Brewfest 2005. A classic very well done Scotch Ale with all the pieces in place. Deep rich brown amber color, without much head. The beer has an oaken quality ringing throughout the flavor profile. Finishes with a fantastic sweet kiss of cane sugar. Must try this one again!

This Scotch Ale has been added back to the regular rotation. Served a 19 oz glass, the beer is a dark brown with red highlights. It has a smallish tan head.
The nose is of slightly smoked malts a bit of toasted bagel.
Taste is a bit fruitier then expected. A bit of plum and then almost a almond nut and green bean thing thing, I'm not exactly sure what's going on, but I don't think its what the brewer intended. Bits of caramel and burnt toast with some sweet butter late. A bit of a train wreck but still kind of interesting in a looking at a car wreck kind of way.
The mouth is just thick enough; drinkablity is about average for me.
