A bottle courtesy of Brugge, which isn't a normal occurrence. This beer pours a bright gold in color with moderate cloudiness and a billowing two finger head. It initially hits your nose with slightly sweet and sour apricots and peaches and finishes with a nice and soft tartness. It smells like a slightly sweeter Berliner Weiss. It tastes of a slightly tart fruit concoction of fresh apples, apricots, and peaches and finishes dry and bretty. This beer has a lot of carbonation so it is very crisp and dry. It continues to foam on your palate. Overall this is another superb beer from Brugge, who are quietly making some really nice wilds.

Thanks to a fantastic trader, whose name I can't remember, I had the chance to try this brewery only release. It was handle-bottled at the brewery with a counter-pressure filler from what I was told. mrbojangles31 and I drank this while we brewed a Gose of our own today!

A: Pours a very pale yellow, which is slightly hazy, with a very large frothy white head.  The thick lacing sticks on the walls of the glass.

S: The coriander is up front, balancing out a nice acidic smell from the acidulated malt.  The nose is wrapped up with a lemon zest scent, almost like tart lemon meringue pie!

T: The coriander kind of falls off here, being taken over by the acidic notes.  The taste starts off nice and sour, with good acidity.  The lemon meringue flavor comes in after the sour punch and smooths the flavor out.  There is a little bit of coriander on the end.

M: The carbonation is expectedly high, light mouthfeel, and great sourness.

D: This beer has a great sourness to it, delicious lemon meringue flavor and a light mouthfeel that helps keep this beer refreshing sip after sip.

Pours a pretty straw yellow, frothy white head and good lacing.

Light lemon. Subtle spices.

Spicy, salty and also sour. Interesting style, sharp and refreshing.

Highly carbonated, crisp mouthfeel, clean finish.

My first Gose - apparently I need to seek these out!

On-tap at the Brugge Brasserie. Served in a pint glass. Enjoyed with some tasty frites.

A: Finger of soapy white head. Pours a cloudy pale yellow. Pretty nice lacing.

S: Wheaty sourness with a lot of lemon zest! Also some light fruit, apricots, pears and white grapes. Very pleasant.

T: A big, lemony zap of refreshing bliss followed by some sourness and light bready notes. Wheat is there, but takes a back seat to the other flavors. There's also some coriander and some faint spices thrown in as well. Finish is very tart and somewhat dry. Also present (and typical of a Gose) is a good amount of saltiness, especially on the back end. Delicious.

M: Light bodied, but feels a lot thicker than it actually is. Probably due to the amount of Wheat malt used. Good amount of carbonation helps keep this brew light and crisp.

D: As I mentioned above, this beer is very refreshing. The overall tartness and saltiness do seem to make it a little less drinkable than a Berliner Weisse. Still with a low ABV, this beer is easily sessionable and enjoyable on any occasion.

There's a reason Bad Kitty took Bronze at GABF '09 for the German Sour Ale category. This is a top notch brew of a vastly underrated (and under produced) style. Another winner from the gang at Brugge. Now, how about we get this and Diamond Kings in bottles!
