On tap the brewpub, served in a tulip...A really outstanding looking beer, pours black with a huge, nice and thick brown head. Great retention and lacing, just stays forever...A light but off aroma. Briney olives, salty light chocolate. Intentional or infected, its not clear but can't imagine they wold be serving if it was infected...The taste is distinct, more olives come through, but they are better balanced by light chocolate. The taste just doesn't translate as well as the aroma. The aroma is weird but I love olives so I can handle, drinking chocolate olives is a bigger step that really hurts the drinkability.
I would drink this again if I was drinking it with the brewer so I could crawl into his head and see his intent.

A - A pitch black beer served in a tulip glass. Nice, two finger tan head. Cool streams of bubbles rise up on the sides. Great color of lace on the sides.
S - Smells like a porter. Robust malts, I do get something of an off-putting olive or briney smell.
T - A very full porter taste, little bit of leather, big thick malts, quite roasted. Do get a little bit of brine/sea taste in there, but it rounds back to the solid porter.
M - Thick, full bodied, tounge tickling carbonation.
D - This is a solid beer, nothing special, but not bad. Average drinkability for the ABV.
