(Notes of Nov.08) Tasted at the Queen's Arms, the best real ale freehouse in Basingstoke IMO, by a half-pint.
A: amber hue, clear, with a thin white head and low carbonation. Looking normal but healthy for a cask ale.
S: refreshing and lightly floral hops plus a touch of grapefruit and orangey Goldings; going light on the malt elements, backed by a touch of brown sugar and breadiness . Subtle and nice.
T: floral and peach-blossom-ish hop aroma treads lightly with a mildly dry and sour touch of yeastiness left from the fermentation process; settling down to a mildly dry-ish aftertaste with sour-sweet malts scattered around. Little bitterness is left in the neutrally-flavoured finish.
M&D: smooth on the texture yet sli...ghtly flat overall, still retaining a sound body throughout the drink. The balance, alas, is somewhat tainted by the freshness issue and drags down the overall enjoyment.
