Slightly hazy copper color with practically no head.
Light aroma of earthy English hops with a mild lemon citrus and some pine.
Flavor of lemon citrusy, tea leaves, minerals, toasted malts, caramels but not really sweet, pears and roasted nuts. Very dry and bitter aftertaste.
Light body with almost flat carbonation. It feels like a hand pump real ale.
Enjoyable beer, it felt like a ice tea lemonade. And a very sessionable bitter.

Great to get this bottle-conditioned version of the beer that impressed me so much on cask last year. BB DEC 06, served cool in a straight imperial-pint glass.
A: murky, pale amber hue; a creamy off-white head comes pretty tight and creamy with decent retention, on top of low carbonation.
S: tart-sweet pears, sweet caramely malts dominate the nose, accompanied constantly by an edge of licorice-spice, dried black tea-leaves, and an acidic and rought yeastiness. Overall the mark of farmhouse bottle-conditioning common to many British microbreweries is engraved deeply in this beer. After a while the sourness goes slightly OTT, hence the overall performance is dragged down a great deal.
T: the dryish flow of Fuggles-like hops skirts the main body of bitter-sweet caramel malts and slightly roasty malts with an undertone of nuts' bitter-sweet aroma closely behind; after the mid-palate the dryish bitterness of dried tea-leafy and earthy hops takes over and occupies every corner of the palate... soothing, lots of dried hops to chew, licorice, a touch of roasted nuts... very enjoyable!! The acidic yeastiness is still present, but way less strong than the nose.
M&D: the fizziness is surprisingly well-crafted, soft as well as refreshing. Overall the structure sees a profound bitter base buttressing light-bodied, mildly sweet amber- or caramel-malts. Yet I'd have to say there's huge space for improvement of its bottle-conditioning skills. Try the cask version if one can find it, for that's the real thing.

Appearance: Pours a warm golden yellow color with a small white head made of fine bubbles. There is quite a bit of bubbles visable in the body of the beer.
Smell: Smell is pretty clean. There are hints of lemon and hops - but sweet.
Taste: It begins very smooth, like a lemon/sugar kind of thing, but bitters up moderately into a hoppy finish. The aftertaste is timed well; just long enough to let the hops bitter up a bit, then the flavor frees up for another sip.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, if not a bit on the light side. Body is plenty enough to fill the tongue, but doesn't weigh heavy in the belly. Very balanced.
Drinkability: Overall, a bit on the sweet side for my tastes - when I want a bitter anyway. Might be best enjoyed outdoors, where the sugar might make you think of lemonade or something.
