L- It's the colour of old gold, clear and pours with a 1cm white head which slowly reduces + leaves lacing but never fully disappears - good looking.
S- Subtle smell, I just get some grains.
T- Immediately the hoppy dryness is present and that builds further for a couple of seconds. Then my palate gets to notice the nice balanced foundation of grainy ale flavours beneath.
F- It's an IPA and appropriately hoppy/dry; it's certainly refreshing. But fortunately it's no contemporary hop-bomb and has been brewed for a balanced profile.
O- After some weeks of being bludgeoned by the tropical-fruit flavour laden APAs it's nice to have found this more mature and traditional iteration of an pale ale. This is the kind of beer I'd enjoy at a summer-time BBQ, where I wanted a refreshing beer, but also one with a flavour that could stand up to BBQ spices and flavours. No negative or out of places aspects of any kind to note, very nice, I'd happily buy this again.
Bought from Fortnum+Mason Piccadilly, London. 500ml. £3.10 BB04/20. Vegan friendly + gluten free.
