'Tairona', the second beer of tonight's session at the Beer Station, draws its name from an ancient indigenous tribe from the central to south-west region in Colombia.
It clearly and happily doesn't draw its style from there, tho.
The appearance is quite nice. a contrasting golden-to-orange tone (had a considerable debate about that) that stands perfectly translucid. atop, a bright white head with a bit less retention that I'd've hoped for but is still in place here.
The smell is too weak, tho. you can clearly perceive a bit of a soury feel at the nose but apart from that, only a slight bitterness perhaps. nothing to hint what the taste ought to be like.
The taste, instead, was quite good. A mix of a sweetness drawn more from a vanilla fore-and-aftertaste generally overcomes the malty feel, and dominates most of it. even so, it mixes at the end with a weak contrast betwee a tad soury- perhaps a bit astringent feel- and a soft bitterness drawn clearly from not-too-many hops.
The mouthfeel is good for the style. weak-to-medium bodied with an ok share of carbonation to make it more of a refreshing offer.
The drinkability- as for all the beers from the station- is good, because of the slightly dumbed-down body.
