Served on-tap in a Shaker pint at Capitol City Brewing Company (Washington, DC).
A: Dark golden with short-cap of off-white head with a few scraps of lacing.
S: Moderately intense grapefruit, pine, and floral hops aromas with a hint of light crystal caramel malt but solid maltiness all around.
T: A nice American IPA with appropriate malt backbone, crackery with a light caramel undercurrent, which is followed with strong pine, grapefruit, lemon, and floral hops flavors with a nice lemon-grapefruit citrus aftertaste. Alcohol is well-hidden and there is no yeast character. Solid job.
M: A little harder to drink than I expected but a little heavier than it should be for style. The carbonation was on target but the finish was not quite as dry as it could have been.
O: A reasonably good IPA with good flavor and aroma. A bit more dryness in the finish would elevate this brew to another level.
