From a growler purchased yesterday and brought back from Boston for me by a friend:
Pours orange/amber with a thin white creamy head that soon descends to a thin layer. Some broken lacing is left.
The smell is of floral citrus with subtle hints of rye and carroway.
The taste is mainly citrusy, bitter hops. Later, some rye emerges, but is held back by the hops. It said "generous amount of rye" in the description. But, it plays second to the hops. Not bad tasting at all, but could be better balanced - the hops could be moderated a bit to bring out more of the rye.
The body and flavors hold up well in the mouth. It's a bit drying, but flavorful.
This is a decent offering - good enough to have more than one. But, the rye was just suggested for most of the drink. It could be better balanced to bring out more of the rye and other malts. (The description said that is has five.)
