Tripel Double is Cap Cities take on Houblon LaChoufe.
On draft at the NY Ave location:

Appearance: Poured appropiately into a 12 oz chalice, Tripel Double is dark gold to almost amber in color, fairly clear with a tightly foamed head. Nice sheets of lacing stick to the chalice as the beer subsides.

Smell: Kind of hard to pick up any discernable aromas in Cap City due to the number of smokers at the bar, however, what I did pick up was pleasantly sweet with fruity fruity with a floral, hoppy aspect as well.

Taste: Starts with a candy like sweetness that is not overpowering, not super malty but has just enough malt backbone to move this along to a middle that is more malty goodness. The American style hops really shine in the finish with big notes of citrus and pine lingering on the tongue long after the swallow. The 8.5% abv is well hidden in the flavor profile.

Mouthfeel: Fairly thick and somewhat creamy, maybe a little dry as well. Carbonation is prevalent making the mouth tingle.

Drinkability/Notes: Not a bad take for a Belgian Tripel/IPA, though not quite as good as Houblon, but gives it a run for its money. Plenty of sweet malty goodness that is characteristic of most tripels with a big american hop finish that is full of citrus and pine notes. Very easy on the palate and yet I couldn't see drinking more than a few of these due to the abv content. Overall, a really nice beer and one I would definitely drink again. Hope the folks at Cap City consider making this a seasonal option. Seek and enjoy. Should be available at all Cap City locations in DC and VA.
