A tawny appearance, orange-y brown. Hazy. The head is basically white, maybe a slightly off-white cream. There wasn't that much of it (a pinky's width to start), nor did it display great retention. Nice ring, with bubbles of many sizes. Some whisps on top.

The nose starts off watery and is pretty muted throughout, but there are some nice aromas. Fresh dough, caramel. Dark fruits. Some bubble gum and spice.

The taste has a malty base. Caramel and prune. Faint nuttiness. There is a very slight alcohol warming accompanied by some pepperiness and anise.

Its a bit thin for for a dubbel, but it is kinda tasty. Though - for both the nose and taste - there were a lot of indications of things, with few of them being as developed as I would have liked.

The fuel was on tap and I had some driving to do, so I was searching for something less of an ETOH bomb. I was told this was light, "but sweet."
Pours a ruby red highlight, with a thin wisp of a head. No retention or lacing. Aroma of light fruit, like a marashino cherry container at a distance.
Extremely sweet and malty with a fruity finish of some cherry like qualities. Found it difficult to finish due to this. Felt more thick and syrupy than I was shooting for at the time.

On-tap and into a pint glass. Since it's a microbrewery, I expected a pint glass and that's cool with me.

Appearance: A semi-dark purplish and amber color. Filled to the brim so the head's not much, and neither is the lacing. But the color's great, and the pint glass didn't allow much room for head or lace retention.

Smell: Dark fruit, belgian yeast, and sweet malt. The slightest bit of hops in the back. Not too bad for a microbrewery crack at it. The freshness definitely helps too.

Taste: A little too much hop bite at the end detracts slightly from the possibilities. But the malt and dark fruits come through slightly. Finishes fairly cleanly after the hop bite at the end.

Mouthfeel: Fairly creamy with a moderate body and enough carbonation to make it interesting without it getting in the way.

Drinkability: Not a bad attempt at a Dubbel, and one of the best brews I had that day. A pint is around $5 though, so only get it probably if you're interested at trying the style.
