This unfiltered German wheat beer is a maltier, richer version of Hefeweizen, ideal for winter. Malted white wheat, Caramunich and Vienna malts, with just a touch of chocolate wheat, provide a luxurious malt profile and pillowy off-white head. The familiar banana and clove elements are created by the Weihenstephan Weizen yeast strain. Enjoy with brats or salmon.

Deep ruby brown color and appears clear. Lasting, moderate head. A few streaks on the glass.
I get burnt chocolate, a little bit of ash. Interesting, yet not wheaty.
Mild start but the flavor comes through by the swallow with chocolate, charcoal, and hops. The body leans thin as it should. Elevated carbonation. The finish has a touch of alcohol and becomes more bitter from the hop than the burnt malt.

This was my first beer of the night at Cap. City on a date with my wife.
A: Extremely dark, murky red, with about a fingers worth of head the stay a thin coat of bubble over the brew throughout the session.
S: Nice! Banana with cloves and other spices. Nothing over-the-top here, but still a pleasant wafting air freshener.
T: Mothball maltiness, with a bit of blah bleached out sweetness. The mild wateriness of the body was a bit of a turnoff, but still not bad.
M: Kind of thin, but extremely well carbonated. This cut through some of the bitter non-sweetness.
D: Neither overly pleasing, nor terribly offending. Good, but I've had much better.

This dunkel poured with a very foamy head. It has a cloudy brown appearance and gives off a banana, somewhat sweet aroma. Unusual, but not altoghether unwanted, toasted malty, slight chocolate flavor. There is no discernaable hops and little aftertaste. Overall, a very drinkable dunkel.

Cloudy amber with minimal off-white head. Aroma is medium sweet wheat, clove, caramel, banana, lemon peel. Taste is sweet, caramle, banana, wheat -- not especially strong flavor. Lemon in the finish. Watery, medium-light body, some tartness. All in all, its a pretty decent Dunkelweizen.
