Sampled at World Expo of Beer in Frankenmuth, Michigan.

I feel like this is supposed to be a cream ale, but wasn't sure enough to put it in the name of the beer. This straight up tastes like a pina colada ... with maybe a little of a lager added. Pineapple and coconut without much else, and that's okay with me -- it still drinks like a beer with its carbonation. Being a (what I think is a) cream ale, a creamier body would be great, but this is still a tasty beer that offers just what you'd expect... I'd still like a little more beer flavor, and a heavier mouthfeel.

22 ounce bottle into lager glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours slightly hazy golden straw color with a 1 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of oily coconut, juicy pineapple, cracker, bread, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of pineapple/coconut, pale malt, and light earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of oily coconut, juicy pineapple, cracker, bread, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of coconut, pineapple, cracker, bread, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and balance of coconut/pineapple, pale malt, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Very clean on lager flavors with minimal yeast ester notes present. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and lightly creamy/slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good fruited pilsner style. All around good robustness and balance of coconut/pineapple, pale malt, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.
