2004 vintage consumed in October 2010. Nice treasure pulled out of my cellar for this cool evening. Pours a thin layer of dark tan head over a clear brown-copper liquid. Smells fruity esters (strawberry, pear, starfruit), tamed piney and lemony hops, caramel oxidation, clean alcohol, and some brown sugar.
Tastes bright on a strong alcohol platform. Esters are pear and fig, hops are piney, oranges, and lemon, hop bitter is near absent, malt is of toast and mild caramel. Alcohol is quite the zip and combines with the hop character to give an interesting stingy edge. Thick mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Wintergreen freshness in the finish and grassy retronasal aftertaste.

500ml(?) swing-top bottle obtained as part of BIF XMas from wezil. Thanks for the opportunity.
Nary a pop when releasing the swing-top, indicating little if any carbonation. Poured into a Rapscallion glass, formed no head, no bubbles, and no lace over the clear orangey amber brew. Aroma is sweet fruity syrup, with alcohol apparent. Taste is is dominated by the strong alcohol character, leaving little room for any other flavors to be enjoyed. Mouthfeel is stinging with the alcohol burn, and drinkability is limited by same. Reminded me of The Beast.
