Pours a hazy iced tea color with a short lived head that drops to a collar.
Smells of sweet malt, wet hops, fruit and sherry wine. Toffee and caramel aromas as well.
Big sweet rich malt taste. Grassy hops, fruit, dates, caramel and tea flavors. A little spiciness in the finish. Nicely done and well balanced.
Full bodied with a rich, thick and viscous mouthfeel. Excellent!
Great balance a lack of noticeable alcohol lead to a very drinkable barleywine.
Their 2002 version won the gold at the Toronado Barleywine festival. The 2003 is aging rather well.
