Our Hefe is Henryk’s favorite summertime beer and the subject of Henryk’s “Thesis” back in his old “Brew Master” College days. Today, Hefe Weisse is one of the fastest growing beers in Germany. This fresh beer has a golden color, a banana and clove taste, unfiltered, with natural brewers yeast which makes this beer very refreshing on a hot summer day.

Thanks to jcwattsrugger for this one!
Poured into HW glass:
Pours almost all foamy head, with a small, but slowly growing body showing slightly hazed golden. After pouring it all in (after waiting for persistent head to descend enough) the body is clouded. For all the head that was there, only some lacing sticks.
The smell is of mild banana/clove.
The taste is of wheat tang, clove and some banana. Some caramel, wheat bread and some general graininess mix in. It has a dry, pretty crisp, finish.
The feel is airy/bubbly and light-bodied. Foamy in the mouth if swirled.
A mild, easy-drinking, decently balanced brew.

Pours out looking like dirty, yellowish water. At least it maintains a decent head. Smell is very thin, acidic, and vegetal with just a twang of wheat. Taste is ridiculously thin, like club soda, essentially. Has a big acidity to it, but not in a good way. Very little hefe-like yeast characteristics. Really flat yeast flavor. Mouthfeel is, like the taste, similar to club soda. Drain pour.

This beer poured a cloudy golden color. There was little carbonation. The smell was at first very loud and quite sour. The initial punch subsided shortly. There is the typical cereal/wheat flavor that youd have in most hefe-weissen beers. There is also a bit more sourness than Id like for this brew. The mouthfeel is a bit thin. This isnt a particularly pleasing beer and I would not consider buying it for drinkability but in all, Im glad I tried it and might do so again one day.

Pours out a light orange haze with a decent sized white frothy head.
Smell. Just a slight banana aroma, mostly a sweet and light malt. A smll bit of lemon citrus as well. Nutmeg is present, but no cloves.
Taste. Wow, quite a citrus punch to it. A bit of honey as well, sweet and tart. Other than that, not too much here. Aftertaste is a bit sour.
Mouthfeel. Initially the carbonation seems very strong like other hefes, but after 2 seconds in my mouth, it strangly disappears into a flat feeling. Body is light.
Overall. Certainly a different beer. Tastes more like a homebrewers attempt on a hefe. Has a strong lemon flavor to it- good but only if you are in the mood. I didn't enjoy this beer much... prefer their kolsch to quench my thirst. A bit of a strange one.
