Heiner Brau brewed this one to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Le Pavillon Hotel in New Orleans, which was built in 1907.
The beer poured a superb mahogany robe with a nice head. Very pretty to look at. The nose was a little off-sweet with notes of cherries coming forth. The sweetness noticed in the nose is also present on the palate, with the same cherry syrup flavors. Maybe a little grenadine alongside. Carbonation was on the low side, which is a low point - I like my amber lages to be refreshing and crisp. Not cloying, like this one. I had to struggle to finish this one. Too sweet overall. Not impressed and quite disappointed after the first impressions I had of this brew.
