I had to ask them not to chill my pint! The beer is jet black with a tan head. Not a bad looker.

The nose was too faint. You get some roasted malts but they seem very distant.

The taste was better than the smell led me to believe it would be. It has some coffee and heavily roasted malts. As the beer warms, a slight bitterness emerges.

The mouth is a bit on the thin side and it has a bit of a chalky finish.

Not a real sessionable stout for me. I realize that Hayward is a touristy town and they want to capture those dollars, but a brew pub should not be serving their stouts chilled like a lager and then offering them in a iced glass!
