My bottle will be anything from just over two to three years old. Cost just over ¥1,000.

A: Black as coal. Low beige head comprising iridescent bubbles.

S: Getting wafts of cocoa before I've even poured it. Wow! Wheatgern graininess and honey.

T: Roasty malt. Lovely and chocolately – the richest chocolate flavour I've experienced in beer, but it has a kind of unpleasant burned toast/cocoa bitterness too. Not sure if that comes from the cocoa or the hops but it detracts from the otherwise smooth chocolatey taste. There's some liquorice and although it's fairly sweet the cocoa/roasty bitterness is slightly too distracting.

O: If the bitter burned flavour weren't so prominent it would be one damn fine beer.
