Tasted by half pint at the Junction Tavern (Tufnell Park, North London), during its three-day mini-beerfest., 3-5 Feb. Dispensed by gravity straight from the barrel.
A: pours an absolutely clear, dark-copper hue with a negligible beer head~~ The colour is so different and light for a porter, and makes the beer all the more enticing!
S: sweetish nutty maltiness dominates the nose, on top of a quietly aromatic fruitiness of mixed dark fruits, like apple-peels and black plums put together. Quite nice, but not very porter-like I must say...
T: lightly bitter edge of roasted barley comes with a light-bodied nutty+woody maltiness laced with mild dark-chocolates at the back; a dry-ish, lingering bitter aftertaste gradually emerges... Very light and delicious, somehow not very pudding-ish rich and sweet as far as its name is concerned~~
M&D: extremely soft on the mouthfeel and quite light-bodied, it's apparently fresh judging from the taste but could use more carbonation to strike a balance in texture. The flavour profile is unlike any "porter"-style beer I've ever tried; rather it's more like a nutty+malty, premium bitter according to my young palate~~ Apparently, I've got to enrich my experience of beers, but the brewers obviously have different ideas in mind in producing this distinctive dark ale--quite nice all the same!
