Cask pint at The Archibald Simpson, Aberdeen. Dark ruby colour, nearly black. Off-white to beige creamy head, nice lacing. Aroma of ripe dark fruits and blackcurrant leaves. Smooth mouthfeel. The flavour is fruity with hints of blackcurrants, mild roasty notes with hints of chocolate. Excellent beer, a strong dark mild in my book.

500ml bottle served in a willibecker. BB 20/01/17 printed on the cap. Pours a lovely ruby hue with a translucent clarity and a tight, one inch, khaki-colored head. Nose expresses light fruity esters almost akin to a Maibock. Taste is a bit odd - biscuity, a hint of caramel, earthy bitterness, and just a suggestion of the fruit revealed in the nose is hidden in the background. A light earthy/medicinal bitterness lingers between quaffs. Mouthfeel is light-medium in body (but closer to light), with a trace of oiliness to the texture and a mild, even carbonation. Overall, a great looking beer, but not really my thing.

pours dark amber/brown with a nice head and a good bit of lacing and retention

smell is light but a bit of caramel malts, coffee and nutty character

taste is more of the same, it maintains a nice bit of coffee, some dried fruits and nut brown flavours while maintaining a light mouthfeel, a refreshing character and a slight hop bitterness at the end.

very nice indeed.

Decent strong ale from Tring in Herefordshire.

Coppery-brown with a thin tan head. Rich malt smell with very little hops in it.

Toffee and bread taste, a slight buttery hint. Raisin and very light citrus. Very smooth, and the only thing holding this back from being a session is the ABV.
