This review is of a hand pulled cask pint taken in the well respected ‘Dove’ in North London.
Originally a one off special brewed in 2010 it is now an occasional brew coming out during the winter months.
The beer comes a dark, deep red/brown, a dull chestnut colour I suppose: on top was a cream coloured foaming head of bubbles.
Not a huge nose to my pint, some maltiness but very little of anything really.
The taste was of roasted malts, some grain type notes and a gentle hop finish: I was expecting a bit more for a winter brew to be honest, especially on seeing the colour and body depth it hinted at.
Nothing wrong with it, but I was a hoping for more (of everything).
