When I arrived at the Wharf rat, the menu's front page was dedicated to the Brewer's Choice for the fall. It was an Imperial Pale Ale which sports a 7.2% ABV. The name may state Imperial, but it is just an IPA.
Poured a nice deep gold color with a 1 inch head. The aroma was nice, with a floral sweetness expected in an IPA. The flavor had a nice sweet malt base, but was aggressively bitter. The bitterness lingered for quite a while on the tongue. I found this very drinkable as this was served at a temperature slightly higher than normal bar offerings, which brought out the flavors. Hope this becomes a staple offering at the Rat.
