"“The War Of 1812″ we’re fighting the war all over again, but with IPAs, both brewed to the same recipe but one brewed by me with all English malts/hops/yeast (Rule Britannia) and the other (God Bless America) brewed by Derek with all American malts/hops/yeast. Come in, try them both and choose your side!"
From 06/09/12 notes. Had on cask side by side with the English version "Rule Britannia" at Meridian Pint at their Drink Local event. As much as I love America, the English version was better.
a - Pours a clear amber color with a few off white bubbles and no carbonation evident. Looks pretty much like the English version.
s - Smells of pale malts, fruity malts, light citrus hops, wheat, and bready malts. Not super strong but very nice. The English version had some pine to it and seemed to be a little hoppier.
t - Taste follows the nose; a lot of fruit and pale malts, light citrus hops, some bread, and floral hops. Again, not quite as strong or hoppy as the English version.
m - Medium body and no carbonation. Smooth and easy to drink, with no bitterness.
o - Overall a nice IPA, though Rule Britannia is better, so if given the option I'd purchase that one over this one. Still a good IPA worth checking out though.
