The colour is red-brown; the liquid is clear. The two finger head is warm beige. Very little lacing occurs.
The smell is very sweet and loaded with caramelized malt. Notes of figs, raisins, cookies and lots of roasted nuts. There are some fruity bitter notes, too.
I had expected a very sweet taste, but instead I got a dry very nutty malty flavour. Some caramelised notes as well as roasted nuts, some raisins and green apples. The aftertaste is roasted with lots of dry malt, toffee, hints of chocolate and a fine bitterness with some grassy notes.
The carbonation is medium to mild, the liquid is smooth.
A very well crafted and bold Vienna lager.
