Poured a black body with khaki head and left a lace sheath down the glass. The aroma balances earthy hops and roasted coffee notes. Smooth, creamy, mixes a dry and roasted coffee presence with some mild bitter/citric hops that are noticeable in the finish. Touch of sweetness in there as well and overall the beer is a little off to me but mostly balanced and pleasant.

8oz glass at Beer Revolution YEG Oliver Square, the day after the big shindig. Dry-hopped with the Denali and El Dorado varietals.
This beer appears a pretty solid black, with the usual amber basal edges, and one chubby finger of puffy, finely foamy, and fairly creamy tan head, which leaves a few swaths of thick, ropy lace around the glass as it rather slowly sinks away.
It smells of lightly roasted, bready and doughy caramel malt, some muddled dark orchard fruitiness, subtle cafe-au-lait, bittersweet cocoa powder, and some leafy, weedy, and perfumed floral green hops. The taste is gritty and grainy caramel malt, a lesser biscuity toffee sweetness, still hard to differentiate fruity hop esters, fading day-old coffee notes, and more earthy, musty, and floral hoppiness.
The carbonation is adequate in its structurally supportive frothiness, the body a solid middleweight, and generally smooth, with the hops not causing any sort of trouble at this particular juncture. It finishes off-dry, the caramel, cocoa, and frooty hops working it well into extra time.
Overall - it's clear that the hop additions here are judicious, as they do not overpower the base brew. The fruitiness adds to the caramel and chocolate essences to make for a pleasant quaff, if not exactly a 'mix of IPA and coffee stout', per se.
