Requires some care in the pour, it starts with two fingers, served with one half. Ruby brown in color where light passes easily through the center of the glass. Beige head which leaves a nice blanket of lace continually through the tasting.
I smell ash, burnt wood (smoke), and burnt black patent malt. Each subsequent whiff draws out more smoke which wasn't initially very notable.
Smooth body with an almost milk chocolate fell. Low carbonation. The malt up front remains throughout the tasting. More cocoa than smoke, some raisin. The finish is creamy and a bit warming from the alcohol.
