On tap at MacGregor's Grill and Taproom in Brighton, NY.
This one pours a dark reddish color, with a small head, and not much lacing at all.
This one smells like heavy smoke, oak, completely fermented bittersweet maple, bitter breadiness, and peat.
I don't get much actual islay scotch flavor, but the barrel does seem to have added a bunch of smoke and additional peat to an already peaty scotch ale. The maple seems to have faded almost completely - there's just a bit of earthy bitterness - almost a hole where maple sweetness used to be.
This is light bodied, slightly thin, and finishes fairly bitter.
The barrel didn't really help this. It was an interesting find, but I don't need to try it again.
