Canned 2021/11/08
Pours a creamy frothy 1 finger head with great retention, fair lacing, mostly clear pale straw color
Nose soft layered pilsner malt, likely decoction mash, straw, cereal, grainy sweet, light floral herbal hop
Taste more grainy sweet pilsner malt, a bit of soft layered decoction, cereal, straw, grainy and a bit doughy with a hint lemongrass, fair hops with med bitterness that actually gets a touch nagging, herbal earthy noble hop getting a bit spicy late, dry semi crisp finish with med spicy hop bitterness lingering typical of Czech pilsner
Mouth is med bod, soft lager med frothy carb
Overall solid Czech pilsner that seems decoction mash as well, Dieu du Ciel getting back to making great beer

never saw this one before now, but boy is it solid, no surprise, these guys always kill it with whatever they take on. this is real nice beer, a little richer and maltier than some, but in a good way. a nice light orange color to this one, almost two inches of lasting white suds from the tap, and lots of bubbles, a nice looking beer for sure, just not overly clear, pale yellow, or delicate looking as they often are. this smells pretty hearty too, nice and earthy on the grain side, malt driven without being sweet at all, biscuit character and the obvious noble hops, seems super fresh and authentic to me, like they got the water chemistry right, used an old world lager strain and were real patient with the ferment. the flavor has great balance, definitely has the czech style mix of flavors, the yeast is subtle but distinct, and the hops help make it crisp at the end even though it has a little more substance to it through most of the drink. its smooth and gratifying, slightly floral from the hops, and i almost get an aged hop thing as it warms, almost like a lambic element in that way, herbal for sure, just delicious. awesome to have something new from these guys, they have long been a favorite of mine!

Can: Poured a clear golden color pilsner with a large slightly off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of clean cereal notes with light hoppy and floral notes. Taste is also a mix of floral hoppy notes with some clean cereal notes and faint residual sugar notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Solid pilsner with a good drinkability factor.
