Can: Poured an amber color lager with a large off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of caramelized malt notes with some nice cereal notes and light residual sugar notes. Taste is also a mix of caramelized notes and nice cereal notes with some light residual sugar notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Solid lager with good drinkability and no off-balance flavours.

Had on tap at the brew pub in Montreal.
Big creamy foamy thick 1 finger head fades slowly but never leaves, lacing covers the glass, dark ruby almost mahogany color.

Nose big Munich style reddish toasty candy malt, with a hint of a sweet honey candy note, and toasty caramelized aroma. Mild gassy hop note.

Taste brings a nice sweet malt, candy reddish toasty malt with a nice Munich malt toasty reddish candy flavor and mild caramel. Slight touch of a honey caramel chew candy. Light grassy hop in the background, with mild to fair bitterness. Finish is dry and mild grassy hop bitterness lingering, light reddish slight caramel malt lingering but mostly clean.

Mouth is med to lighter bod and decent carb.

Overall pretty nice, very enjoyable with nice toasty reddish malt and faint grassy saaz hops bring a nice touch of bitterness, I can easily pound a full pint.

Enjoyed at the brewpub.
Decent clarity, deep red in colour with a foamy, whitish cap. Thick, sticky lacing. Aromas of fresh, leafy hops and a bit of cocoa -- simple but effective. Medium to low bitterness with caramel and sugary sweetness, grassy hops, faint cocoa and some chocolate in the finish. Medium to light bodied wiht lowish carbonation, mild dryness, malty texture. Really easy drinking and pretty mellow.

L'amère à boire is a brewpub specialized in lager brewing.
I'm not sure this is a münchener, it's a dunkel lager for sure, maybe a mix of vienna / münchener. it's inspired by the Cervený Drak of Starobrno brewery in Moravia.

A: nice reddish-russet with a white foam.
S: some maltiness on the nose, some caramel
T: very malty with a hint of caramel,
M: round beer, some swetness
D: missing somthething to go back for another

Appearance: Dark copper, with a finger of strong, thick head.

Smell: Fresh and grainy, I'm pretty sure the hops were Saaz, grassy and herbal.

Taste: Pretty darn malty for a lager, it tasted like lightly browned toast with caramel spread on top. Carbonation was creamy smooth and finished off softly bitter. Not my favorite at this pub, but yet again another excellent offering from Montreal's lager masters.

Deep amber color, white creamy head. Sweet, malty aroma but little or no hoppiness. You can tast the honey malt in this as well as the crystal/caramel malts. The Saaz hops are noticeable but on the light side for balance. A clean, pleasant beer, quite drinkable.

They brew this with Saaz. I ordered this alongside the fin de siecle, as I wanted to try the red lager next to the red ale. Anyway, pour was light clear reddish amber when served. It came with a clean sweet aroma. I found the tasty fruity, with a strong malt backbone, easy to drink. Mouthfeel was also pleasant and well rounded. Not a bad beer, but not overly exceptional.
