This interesting red ale had a nice red appearance with a nice white head that lasted for a while and left some nice lace on the glass as well. The aroma was slightly spicy with the anise in there. I also smelled some subtle hops and sweet caramel-like malts. The taste was dry and hoppy up front with the anise spice in the middle, and some sweet malts in the finish. The mouthfeel was a bit rough, but good for this sort of beer, and the drinkability was above average as well. Not my favorite from Sergeant-Recruteur, but very good none-the-less...
