Presentation: Sampled from HandPump #1 of #4 at the Baroque in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England during my Easter Tour. Pastel red simple looking Pumpclip had the words Northern with the left strake of the h elongated into an upward pointing arrow, has the words Soul Master underneath and a strength of 4.4% listed at the base of the clip.
Appearance: Slick looking lucid golden urine body with some yellowy traits. Thin white head but it lasted the race to the bottom of the pint pot. Carbonation was moderate and a tad on the light side.
Nose: Light hops, delicate floral aroma and a spritzy effervescent nose. Lively, but low in strength.
Taste: Uses American and English hops, not exactly in high quantities that Im used but they are put to perfect use in this English Cask Ale. Light flora and a hoppy bitterness that had some fragrant perfume character to it. Fruity finish.
Mouthfeel: Sadly the carbonation was less than expected and required maybe this was the end of the Cask, nevertheless, a light creamy feel and a nice crisp bitterness on the palate.
Drinkability: Extremely refreshing and a solid brew after a long days drinking around the County of West Yorkshire.
Overall: Thomas Fawcett (Malt), Charles Faram (Hops), Thomas Hardy & Burtonwoods (Fresh Yeast), Murphy & Son (Finings, DWB) and Lake Vyrnwy, Wales (Water). The mix works well; tasty and quaffable.
A new beer from a new brewer, and a great start! Recommended.
