This belgian strong dark was listed as 7.5% ABV in the bottle. Sampled at the brewpub.
Appearance: Opaque and copper, with a light bubbly head that died down to a quiet ring around the pint glass.
Smell: Anise, some pepper, a faint horseblanket and fusel alcohol finish. Interesting!
Taste: Carbonation feels light, and felt sour like cherries. A good mix of yeast/bread, with black licorice and maybe a little szechuan pepper. Aftertaste is prickly and the tongue a little spicy. Not bad altogether.

This is an excellent seasonal beer from Le Cheval Blanc. The bartender informed me that they had just tapped this a few days ago, and I believe that this beer was barrel aged for several months before it was tapped. This was a Belgian abbey-style beer that was a dark orangeish/reddish brown colour with a nice white head that lasted for days. The aroma was spicy with some nice fruit notes and clove notes. This beer tasted like spiced apple rings and cloves....Delicous! There was also some sugary yeast flavors and a dry hop bite. The mouthfeel was rich and full and the drinkability was very good for a 7.2%abv beer.
