Served in a snifter at the brewpub, quick review from written notes.
Dark reddish brown with a ruby highlight in the glass. Thin layer of clinging tan foam on the surface that lasts for awhile and eventually parts. Minimal spotty lace.
Caramelized plantain and brown sugar aroma.
Resiny pine bitterness lingers long into the aftertaste, caramel syrup and toasted plantains again, lending complexity in the taste. Full bodied and sticky on the lips, but not overly sweet. Piney bitterness eclipses it, but a little caramel sweetness still bleeds through. A nice slow winter sipper.
