Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a Dogfish Head tulip
L: Clear light golden amber pour with a finger of white head. Decent lacing.
S: Light coffee and toasted grains.
T.F: Crackery grains and mild espresso. Caramel and bread. Some earthy/herbal hops with modest bitterness. Light bodied and well carbonated.
O: An agreeable beer... light coffee on top of a Belgian style blonde. The flavors work well and it's very easy drinking. Not one I'd want regularly but made for a nice change of pace.

Bottled 4/24/15; drank 5/10/15 @ the Yarchives.
See-through golden appearance.
Fluffy white head; a curtain of lace.
Bold notes of freshly roasted coffee beans in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Fresh roasted coffee flavor; faint yeast notes on the finish.
More coffee flavor this go-round, which worked better for me: one-note but drinkable.

Almost horrific at first. Tastes a lot like paint. Mild coffee notes on the nose, roasty and nice. Several sips in and it starts tasting better, but still bitter and unbalanced.

Maybe a 'coffee ale' should maybe taste like coffee? Just saying. A drinkable brew but if you want coffee go elsewhere.

12 oz bottle from Florida. 28 November 2017 bottling date. Review based on several bottles from early 2018 to today.
Pour is a clear copper colored body with a rather weak head.
Moderate strength coffee flavor and aroma, but a lingering, mildly bitter, coffee aftertaste.
Overall: more than competent but less than exceptional.

Look: Orange-gold with a decent white head.
Smell: Malt, a bit of citrus, very faint sweet coffee.
Taste: Mild but somewhat complex. Malt, some hints of earthy coffee, and a small amount of hop bitterness on the back end.
Mouthfeel: Slightly thicker than average with minimal carbonation.
Overall: While it's a nice beer, I do think this needs a much stronger coffee flavor and scent to really live up to the name.

"Rich coffee flavor and aroma" is what the label claims. This is why people distrust marketing.
The beer pours a light orange color with a thin head that quickly dissipates but never entirely vanishes.
The aroma is of light malts and grain, between a light blonde ale and a lager. The "rich coffee aroma" is nowhere to be found.
The taste is similarly light, sitting between a pilsner and a blonde ale. There is a hint of coffee flavor, but it's so subtle that I might miss it if I wasn't looking for it. It does become more prominent as the beer warms, but nowhere near approaching "rich".
Are you looking for a blonde ale with a subtle coffee flavor? If so, you've found it.
But if you're looking for "rich coffee flavor and aroma", as the label claims, you'll have to look elsewhere. Founders' coffee ale is pretty good, I'd start there.

4/1/18...bright copper, some white foam, but thin. Malty nose, hints of coffee but faint. Earthy bitter nose. Taste is a coffee infused blonde ale. It is faint at the start but builds into a stronger bitter of sorts. Otherwise a fast finish. Adds edge to a blonde, but unremarkable.

From the back label: "BOTTLED ON DATE 28NOV17 BG0805"
The bottles were purchased in a refrigerated room.
Appearance: The body of the beer is an amber color with very good clarity. It has a short white head with pretty low retention. It leaves only a small white ring in the glass.
Aroma: There is a very light aroma of what smells like toasted caramel and a nondescript herbal hop scent.
Taste: Up front there is a bit of a toffee flavor with just a light bit of buttered caramel. There is this slightly bitter undertone of herbal tea which is nice.
Mouthfeel: The beer has a light body with a nice bitter bite at the end.
Overall: It is a tasty beer that has a nice toffee flavor and an interesting hop flavor that is paired with it. The label on the beer states that this beer has a "RICH COFFEE FLAVOR AND AROMA IN A BRILLIANT GOLDEN ALE." This beer doesn't really work well as a coffee beer; t doesn't taste or smell like coffee. It's a good enough beer to drink but it is misleading.
