Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a Dogfish Head tulip

L: Clear light golden amber pour with a finger of white head. Decent lacing.

S: Light coffee and toasted grains.

T.F: Crackery grains and mild espresso. Caramel and bread. Some earthy/herbal hops with modest bitterness. Light bodied and well carbonated.

O: An agreeable beer... light coffee on top of a Belgian style blonde. The flavors work well and it's very easy drinking. Not one I'd want regularly but made for a nice change of pace.

Bottled 4/24/15; drank 5/10/15 @ the Yarchives.

See-through golden appearance.

Fluffy white head; a curtain of lace.

Bold notes of freshly roasted coffee beans in the nose.

Medium mouthfeel.

Fresh roasted coffee flavor; faint yeast notes on the finish.

More coffee flavor this go-round, which worked better for me: one-note but drinkable.

Almost horrific at first. Tastes a lot like paint. Mild coffee notes on the nose, roasty and nice. Several sips in and it starts tasting better, but still bitter and unbalanced.

12 oz bottle from Florida. 28 November 2017 bottling date. Review based on several bottles from early 2018 to today.
Pour is a clear copper colored body with a rather weak head.
Moderate strength coffee flavor and aroma, but a lingering, mildly bitter, coffee aftertaste.
Overall: more than competent but less than exceptional.

Look: Orange-gold with a decent white head.

Smell: Malt, a bit of citrus, very faint sweet coffee.

Taste: Mild but somewhat complex. Malt, some hints of earthy coffee, and a small amount of hop bitterness on the back end.

Mouthfeel: Slightly thicker than average with minimal carbonation.

Overall: While it's a nice beer, I do think this needs a much stronger coffee flavor and scent to really live up to the name.

"Rich coffee flavor and aroma" is what the label claims. This is why people distrust marketing.

The beer pours a light orange color with a thin head that quickly dissipates but never entirely vanishes.

The aroma is of light malts and grain, between a light blonde ale and a lager. The "rich coffee aroma" is nowhere to be found.

The taste is similarly light, sitting between a pilsner and a blonde ale. There is a hint of coffee flavor, but it's so subtle that I might miss it if I wasn't looking for it. It does become more prominent as the beer warms, but nowhere near approaching "rich".

Are you looking for a blonde ale with a subtle coffee flavor? If so, you've found it.

But if you're looking for "rich coffee flavor and aroma", as the label claims, you'll have to look elsewhere. Founders' coffee ale is pretty good, I'd start there.

4/1/18...bright copper, some white foam, but thin. Malty nose, hints of coffee but faint. Earthy bitter nose. Taste is a coffee infused blonde ale. It is faint at the start but builds into a stronger bitter of sorts. Otherwise a fast finish. Adds edge to a blonde, but unremarkable.

From the back label: "BOTTLED ON DATE 28NOV17 BG0805"
The bottles were purchased in a refrigerated room.

Appearance: The body of the beer is an amber color with very good clarity. It has a short white head with pretty low retention. It leaves only a small white ring in the glass.

Aroma: There is a very light aroma of what smells like toasted caramel and a nondescript herbal hop scent.

Taste: Up front there is a bit of a toffee flavor with just a light bit of buttered caramel. There is this slightly bitter undertone of herbal tea which is nice.

Mouthfeel: The beer has a light body with a nice bitter bite at the end.

Overall: It is a tasty beer that has a nice toffee flavor and an interesting hop flavor that is paired with it. The label on the beer states that this beer has a "RICH COFFEE FLAVOR AND AROMA IN A BRILLIANT GOLDEN ALE." This beer doesn't really work well as a coffee beer; t doesn't taste or smell like coffee. It's a good enough beer to drink but it is misleading.

Pours light brown with thin head. Smells of bread, coffee and caramel. Taste is caramel with hints of coffee. Warm sticky toffee with little bits of lemon. The taste is mind-blowing, sweet but not too sweet, coffee but just the way you want it, bitter but not two bitter. Amazing beer. Cheers.

Has a grassy sort of smell. Notes of caramel, some mild coffee notes. Other bread malt notes. Smells somewhat metallic.

Tastes mainly consists of espresso. Subtle caramel and toffee notes, toasted malts, and sweet apples and pears, other citrus flavors.

Feels creamy smooth. Bitter aftertaste.

Pours an effervescent bronze with a thumb+ of pearl colored head. Decent head retention & lacing

S: Some Coffee notes, a little grassy

T: Pears, breadyness & a touch of green apple skin, plus some dryness, where is the coffee? More dryness, pear, a little grassyness along with more green apple. Finishes dry, grassy with green apple

MF: Light/medium body, firm carbonation

This was pretty boring and the coffee was a no-show, thank goodness I only purchased a single! I now see it was bottled in January, did not hold up

A: Bright orange, very good clarity, with a soapy, off white head that didn't last to long. Lots of macro-carbonation bubbles adhere to the vessel walls. No signs of lacing and overall pretty lackluster in appearance and ordinary.

S: Disappointing nose, was expecting a bigger coffee presence. Very muted impression, watered down grounds, with some earthy brush and sticks. No distinct maltiness, weak aromatically in terms of strength and nothing really stood out.

T: The flavor followed the nose in terms of disappointment, it did have a sliver more of presence in terms of coffee. Earthy light, but very watered down with no bite. Some earthy metallic notes on the finish, the malting again, weak and uninspiring.

M: Sparkling carbonation, lager like, probably one of the few highlights of the drink, but really doesn't say much.

O: This was a disappointment for me, can not understand how they can brew BCBS, a monster of flavor and fresh aroma, and feel good about offering this. The coffee aspect was very disappointing, lack-luster, I have had coffee pale ales with pale coloring with a huge roasty palate, this comes up way short, As for as being a golden ale, the spicing was also as muted as the coffee and comes off very uninspiring, a bet boring, but not necessary bad, just very forgettable.

L) Pours a clean amber hue with a creamy white head. A smidge dark, but still looks lovely.

S) Smells clean, a bit of toast, lots of caramels, and some coffee at the end.

T) Clean malt, lovely toasty brown ale notes, caramel, toffee, and an espresso finish, this actually is a really solid, easy profile.

F) Light bodied with a medium-high carbonation. Honestly perfect for the flavor profile at play, keeps it drinkable all throughout.

O) Easy recommendation to amber and coffee lovers, its just a great porch-drinking sixer of bring to a brunch kind of brew.

The clear amber beer pours out into a shaker pint with a 1/2" off white head that recedes to leave a few specks of lacing on the side, a ring around the liquid and a few thin patches of foam on the surface.

The aromas are all about mild coffee with just a hint of bready malt.

The flavors are a bit more complex than the nose in that while the mild coffee flavor is forward there's a bit of cream and some mild sweetness here as well. Not much showing of the hops.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied and fairly smooth with the moderate carbonation. The finish begins as the coffee, cream and sweetness slowly fade into a semi-dry ending with just a hint of bitterness.

Overall I enjoyed this beer but thought it wasn't particularly complex. The flavors and aromas are mild but noticeable and are mostly about the coffee. I'd have another if offered but not go looking to find more.

T - Tasty hoppy pale ale, crisp, and subtle coffee undertones. Citrus flavors round it out. Very good

F - Well carbonated

O - A flavorful pale ale, with nice subtle coffee notes.

I normally wouldn't pick up a GI beer but I love coffee golden/cream/blonde ales and this was available in the mix-6 section. Pours into a tulip glass. There is a mediocre blonde ale base beer at best...and I thought this was supposed to have coffee. No coffee aroma or flavor whatsoever. This was an unqualified disappointment.

Review from 12 oz. bottle

Appearance: Very clear amber, thin short-lasting khaki colored head, sparse lacing
Aroma: Mild coffee aroma, not unpleasant
Taste/flavor: Malty. Tastes like an adjunct lager with a hint of coffee, yet with a strange earthy sensation reminiscent of moldy wood chips
Mouthfeel: Medium body, moderate carbonation. Finish is relatively smooth
Overall: Not among my favorites. Does not suit my palate. Will not buy again

Picked this up since I love every coffee beer into a pint glass. Dark golden ale with a 1/4 inch of opaque colored foam that fizzes out fairly quick leaving some lace. Smells of hops and some honey malts not getting much coffee in the slightest. Taste is very good a smooth golden blonde with some slight bitterness that is masked by faint coffee beans. Body is light to medium and smooth rather easy to crush.

Overall was going in not expecting much and the smell is kind of boring but the blend of both coffee and beer is achieved and quite tasty. Pick it up!

The coffee is manifest mostly by the nose rather than by the tongue. It’s just strong enough to make an interesting ale. For me, there’s a bit too much bitterness; the taste is more bitter than you would expect from the aroma. It’s a pretty good beer.

This was a really nice light American ale with bold flavors and body. IMO this is a nice grainy/malty pale ale more than a blonde ale but who cares on the style classification. The coffee is very subtle and not very noticeable overall. Very well done beer IMO.
