Served in a stein at the Clybourn brewpub.

The Pre-Gold Box Excursion rolls on into a classic German style as interpreted by the Clybourn brewing crew. It pours a clear bronze topped by over a finger of dirty cream foam. The nose comprises grass, flowers, pine-laced honey (whatever incredulity you are feeling now having read that is still less than that I experienced at the time, believe you me), and biscuit. The nose taste brings in more of the same, with a stronger contingent of grass. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a dry finish. Overall, a solid maibock, not an outstanding example of the style, but a highly drinkable brew regardless.

A: copper/amber body, 1 finger head, good lacing

S: sweet malt, mild roasted scent

T: sweet malt front, firm earthy hint of jammy middle, hint of toasted bready finish

M: med/light body, mild

O: Fair/pretty good, for solid ABV, was expecting little more stronger flavor. good gateway bock, basic sessionable bock.

SOLID, NOT A MUST HAVE!

on tap into a tulip at the Clybourn Brewpub. pours a drab amber color with minimal head that light lacings. decent retention and no lacings.

aroma is of sweet candy suger with a bit of caramel and a malty backbone, along with bready malt that feeds off the sweet character. a bit sweet for a maibock in the nose.

taste is very malty, with caramel and thick malts alongside a distant earthy base. a very rich bock with a rich character. well done.

mouthfeel is full bodied and full of malts. finishes with lasting breaded malt and candy suger.

drinkability is good. though it has a decent APV (8.7%), this is a good bock. rich, malty, and full of grainy, breaded goodness, this is worth a shot for any malt lover. cheers!

This is one of my favorite types of lagers, glad to see it here.

Clear golden honey color, nice white head, leaves a good lace, as it should be for this type.

Subdued nose, malty, intriguing, very complex, with signs of honey nuts and grassy.

The big malty taste hits hard, toasty, with a nice sweet middle but finishes dry at the end, well done.

The mouthfeel is round, full, and heavy, with a slipperiness, that makes it easy to drink, hides the warming abv well, not telling it's above 8%, be careful here. Served in a 10oz glass, easy to quaff several of these. Very well done.

( Served in a dimple beer mug)
A-This beer has a hazy golden brown color with a creamy head and no carbonation visible.

S- Very clear smell with hints of warm sweet malt

T- nuggety tangyness with a sweet honey malt flavor that finishes with a slight spicy hop flavor.

M- medium mouthfeel with a faint astringency but no alcohol warmth.

D- This is a very fair beer. It was made with all Munich malt and it lacks any depth. The hops balance the malt but there isn't much interest in either.

Pours a chll-hazd orange and amber hue. No real head on the pour but spots of lace magically appear on the glassware.
Aroma of malt liquor, some honey, wheat, grain and a distinct hop note.
Flavor of malt, molasses, honey and a resiny hop tone.
Mouthfeel is very plain, no real sweetness or bitterness stands up, no clean transitions. Little bit disappointing.
Drinkability is fairly good. Not typical Maibock IMHO but decent beer.
