Licorice. Big licorice. A smokey hint at the end. But this is not the anise herbal flavor; is leathery unsweetened black licorice.

Had a 5 oz pour as I was transitioning to home. From the menu: "Onyx color, chocolate and fruit aroma, licorice and caramelized sugar flavor, robust body."
This beer provides a lovely black licorice flavor as it warms. Next time I have a full pour!

2/2/16 Chicago (12 oz draft pour into Snifter @ Clybourn Goose Island Brewpub). Black pour with slight tax head and lacing. Sweet chocolate aroma. Chocolate taste dominates, shades of black licorice. Medium carbonation and texture. Nice beer to pair with desert or when in the mood for something sweet. Very good Goose Island offering.
