Served on draught at the Clybourn location. Reviewed from notes.
A transparent rich, brown color with a thin, off-white head. Aroma is subtle, with some light malts.
Flavor is similarly subtle, with a light feel and not much complexity. There's some hints at various flavors - roasted malts, some molasses sweetness, etc. - but nothing jumps out at you.
Much more drinkable than you'd think by looking at it, but I'm not sure that's a good thing. Still, an experience I'm happy to have had (once).

(Served in an American pint glass)
A- This beer has a dark mahogany brown body that is crystal clear with a light tan wisp of a head. There is a nice gentle carbonation.
S- The smell of light toasted malt was balanced by a faint molasses note. No real notice of hops.
T- The flavors of crystal malt and brown malt had a faint iron tang and some dark caramel hint. There was a faint alcohol taste in the finish. The beer was served at a good temp but the taste was kind of thin.
M- This beer had a medium mouthfeel with a slight watery texture. No alcohol heat really detected.
D- This is a darker beer that taste like a very light colored beer. Meaning I was expecting some nice big malt flavors and they weren't there. I assume that they wanted to simulate the beer of that time, and I'm glad I got the opportunity to try it but it makes me really appreciate the quality and diversity of beers we have today.
