(Served in a snifter)
A- This beer pours a dark midnight brown with a ring of light tan foam and a wisp of foam on the top. No visible light through the snifter.
S- The smell of light oak and brandy had a faint red licorice note to it.
T- The taste of smooth but bright brandy with some nice woody oak flavors is combined with dark smooth malt that has hints of brown sugar, light prunes and toffee. There is nice finish of alcohol that accents the soft bitterness of the hops. As it warms there are faint notes of dates and white raisins in the background of the malts.
M- This beer has a medium-light mouthfeel with nice alcohol warmth at the finish.
D- This beer has nice complexity and good flavors that are not your typical B-wine flavors. It has the qualities of a good aged port, one of my favorite after dinner drinks, and I would give those up if I could replace it with this.
