(Served in an American pint glass)
A- This beer has a warm brown body that is opaque except for the base of the glass where light passes through. The head is a creamy off-white of medium size and last for a good bit. It is a bit too dense to see any bubbles of carbonation.
S- The smell of dry smoke has an Alder/Beachwood smell that is a faint bit oaky. The smell is very smoky but it is a smooth gentle smoky smell that is very nice.
T- The taste of brown malt and lightly toasted malt has a smoke flavor that reminds me of smoked sausage and there is a nice spicy flavor to the finish that is most likely hops. There is a light bacon flavor that comes through in the smoke as it warms but it is a very pleasant taste.
M- The mouthfeel is light with a bit of a watery finish but it is a nice clean finish to a complex beer.
D- This beer does have big smoke flavors but it is a nice smooth complex flavor with notes of malt and spice mixed in. Some German Rauchbiers I find offensive and to much bad smoke but this is a great flavor.

16 oz sample. This beer is produced from the second runnings of the ED, or smoked imperial brown goose and brewed as a lager. This one poured a solid brown color, a bit darker than tea, but nowhere near dark brown. Clarity was very nice, with a moderate carbonation working through the beer as it sat. The aroma definately lets you know this one is smoked, with a light maple and caramel sweetness, but strong sweet smokey notes. The flavor is much the same. It has a very nice balance between the flavorful and sweet smokeyness and the lighter caramel notes from the malt. This one is definately a very flavor filled beer. Feel on this one was moderate at best, with a fairly active carbonation. The mouthfeel kept this one from being obtrusive at all. I liked the dichotomy between big flavors and light body. This is a beer I could sit and drink all night long. It is low in alcohol, but makes up for that with a ton of flavor. I really like smoked beers, so that may sway how I feel, but I am happy that this one is still on tap.
