I had a couple of these before the Friday Cubs Sox game.
Served in a standard pint, the beer is a nice hazy amber with a beige head.
The aroma is of earthy malts, caramel and some surprisingly assertive hops.
The beer is slightly sweet with grains, caramel and some almost nutty flavors. These are followed in rapid succession by some citrus taste from the hops. Beer is well balanced and a bit more complexity than I expected.
The mouth is sturdy and this is a good example of a session beer. Im not sure the Cubs will be in a pennant race this year, but for today they looked like a contender. This beer is definitely a contender. Well done!

had this at the wrigleyville location, it was not part of their regular lineup, stated it was brewed seasonal or once for this location. why they call this "pennant race" next door to wrigley i have no idea. 99 years ago, maybe. anyways, this poured a hazy, deep reddish brown. carramel malts, flowers, and roasty/nutty in the nose. just a tiny hint of malt sweetness in the taste, with a nice amount of hops for this style. bitter hops are more center stage than the malts. nice nutty flavors in this as well. mouthfeel is light/medium and nicely carbonated. a little astringent on the finish, though. could have had a few of these.
