This release is dedicated to Jonny, a long time Goose Island employee. Jonny, and Brewer Quinn, came up with this recipe after Jonny’s recent victorious battle with cancer. Jonny lost the ability to taste many flavors, an unfortunate consequence of battling cancer. He almost completely lost his palate and mangos and cinnamon were two of the few things he was still able to taste.

We’re happy to say that Jonny is now a cancer survivor! This beer pays tribute to the flavors that were never lost.

A portion of proceeds from this beer will go to support the life changing research at the Robert H. Lurie Cancer Center of Northwestern University, where Jonny was treated.

Pours a pale gold with an off white head.

Smells of sweet and sour fruit with brown sugar malt notes.

Taste of tropical fruit - mango, star fruit, guava - with a sweet sour candy malt. This one is interesting but all over the place.

Draft at GI O'Hare. Looks like a hazy, and the comparison stops there. Almost no aroma, except for some spice (clove?). Taste is the same funky spice notes, little citrus or tropical notes. I guess if you have lost your palate, this would pretty good.

Poured from the tap at a Goose Island taproom at ORD airport. The beer is a hazy pale gold color with a foamy off-white head.

The beer's smell is noticeable from a distance. Juicy tropical aroma of mango and pineapple, orange, but also green apple. Slight peppery spice underneath but you have to dig a bit to find it.

Taste is a bit more subdued. Same notes are there, but the citrus is a bit more on the peel side. Mango is there but not as juicy. Not much spice here. A bit of a let down after the strong nose.

Overall: Very drinkable, but a bit thin. There are for sure better hazy IPAs out there but this is fine.

This was a quick supermarket grab in a pinch. That's what you get for not reading the info on the box....

Holds up as a hazy IPA NE style. Dense and creamy dome. Whipped style.

Cinnamon and mango aroma is definitely up-front in the nose. Sweet creamy grains, with a distinctive generic ale thing too.

Never been a fan of weird adjuncts, cinnamon is high on the... "Hell no" list. Fruity adds, mango included, I see as unnecessary at best, let the hops themselves do the talking.

Feel is smooth, light, airy, maybe just too much malty slick leftovers but otherwise alright.

What can I say?? Perhaps some of my millennial friends will be thrilled to help me with these.

Hazy pale yellow with a 1.5" white head, which lasts. Moderate lacing. A bit of suspended yeast particles.

Aroma is cinnamon, mango, tangerine.

Taste follows nose: Cinnamon, mango, tangerine.

Medium body, light carbonation. Semidry finish.

Cinnamon and mango come through nicely. A good NEIPA.

Excellent just enough mango with a little too much cinnamon. Regardless it is still an excellent beer.

i dont know why i am surprised this is excellent, these guys still make a lot of good beers, maybe its just not the standard anymore. i am really enjoying this, a cool concept for an ipa, not sure i have seen cinnamon in one before, and its somehow real compatible with the hops, unexpected and groovy. a little hazy and fizzy like a soda from the tap but without a lot of head, huge bubbles though and a low glow. the nose is fun, clean citrus from the hops, maybe tangerine, and vanilla with the cinnamon, whether its added in or not, i get it. the cinnamon is natural and distinctive, but its not hot or dominating, crazy enough as it sounds this is ipa first. the flavor is great, grapefruit and clementine from the hops, a little bitterness all the way, a mango tropical smoothie note but not with that much finishing sweetness, great interplay there. the cinnamon is present most of the drink but climaxes late, rushing back after the swallow, but the thing that stands out the most is how compatible it is with the hops, never would have thought. a little fuller feeling even with the soda bubbles, not too heavy, but its not a total ripper. a tad sweet and summery, unique in this space. overall this is impressively good, cool story behind it too. among the best goose island beers in recent memory for me! i imagine its a love it or hate it beer, but i love it...

Draft at Fins in Bethany Beach DE. Pours an opaque yellow-gold with a nice off-white head. Initial impression is heavily skewed toward mango, with hints of grapefruit and cinnamon in the background. Mouthfeel is clean and refreshing. Finish is clean and refreshing. Overall, a decent but not remarkable NEIPA.
