This was the most impressive English Mild I have come across. Freshness may have something to do with it, since few Milds from the UK make it across the pond. Brewmaster said "In the same vein as PMD, but a little lighter, less smoky".

It was a dark auburn brown, with copper highlights at the bottom of the glass where the light came through. Initial bubbly head, that faded after a few minutes.

Light toasted malt aroma, with a hint of apple.

Fresh apple and toasted malt again, very clean and balanced. Slight caramel feel adds body but not sweetness.

Well, after 2 pints I still wanted another, so this was testament to a true session ale. Cheers to kmpitz2, we drank this to toast the departure from Chicago, and in celebration of bookworm's birthday.
