Draught @ BTAH, as Blue Czar.
Pours opaque black, no head.
Nose of bourbon and blueberry, with roasty espresso. Dessert.
Flavor - wow. Dark, rich chocolate held in check by the malt's balancing espresso notes and just a bit of roasty acidity, blueberries peek through beautifully, and the vanilla bourbon notes provide a rich, subtle counter balance. This is fantastically delicious, what an amazing dessert beer - like blueberry-infused chocolate fudge cake dipped in coffee and bourbon. The flavors mesh beautifully together, and the roastiness and acidity keep the whole thing from getting out of hand. One of the best Imperial stouts I've had.
Mouthfeel is smooth and viscous, full bodied.

At the Clybourn brewpub called "Black and Blue". Abv described as above 9%.
Deep black stout look with a nice fluffy tan head, good lacing.
Nose has a heavy bourbon flavor, some malt and fruit to back itup. The taste is an upfront bourbon aged IRS with the backend revealing a nice blueberry flavor that goes very well to backup the stout itself. Amazing depth of flavor, the bourbon aging is upfront as well.
Mouthfeel is full and creamy, a zesty brew to have, as for drinkability the blueberries make it easier to go down, without them it would be hard to put down more than 10oz of this, as it is bring on a second, yeah!

Nose is sweet and rich, no berries yet....wait for it...
Rich smooth complex flavor. Creamy full mouthfeel. Berries and bourbon on finish. There's the berries! Warming alcohol on finish.
Fantastic bourbon imperial stout. The berries make it better but they're just SO subtle that you really have to concentrate to pull them out. Little more berries would really balance the bourbon and alcohol nicely.

Served in a snifter at Goose Island-Clybourn 9/4/08.
"Imperial Stout aged additionally for 25 weeks in a Heaven Hill barrel with real blueberry"
A: Served a dark dark chocolate-y black with a 1/4 finger of dark tan head. The head quickly falls to a faint skim and creamy ring.
S: Bourbon, chocolate, and vanilla with a nice and natural fresh/tart blueberry aroma. Also noticed a whiff of coconut.
T: See above. Dark fruit and tropical fruit, chocolate, cherry, tangy blueberry, coconut, vanilla, oak, and tobacco.
M: Full and slick with a fine bitter edge. Finishes sweet, tangy, and fruity.
D: A pleasure to drink. Very enjoyable. Love the experimentation happening over at the Goose!
