Via growler pour on 9/5/09, courtesy of davide169.

A - Poured a cloudy reddish brown body with no carbonation or head at all. Definitely not much to look at.

S - Huge bourbon presence... and I mean HUGE! Some woody and oaky notes are there too, of course, as well as lots of vanilla sweetness. The bourbon barrel aged character literally smacks you across the face right from the get-go.

T - The strong bourbon character transfers over to the flavor effortlessly, but the alcohol is surprisingly quite restrained. This is not as boozy as the initial aroma implied. The requisite vanilla sweetness is in tow as well.

M - Medium bodied with a syrupy texture and really soft carbonation. Minimal alcohol warmth on the palate with some residual sweetness in the finish.

D - If you like bourbon barrel-aged beers, then you will probably enjoy this beer. This is even heavier on the bourbon character than even the Bourbon County Stout, although this is definitely not as good. While this didn't blow me away, I still enjoyed this quite a bit.

Sampled this on tap at Hopcat.

Medium to dark brown color with tan head. Smell and taste were both overwhelmingly of Bourbon whiskey, with some minor hints of vanilla and spiciness. Really powerful alcoholic punch here, I think the menu at the pub said this one was actually around 15% ABV. Decent in smell doses but about as far from highly drinkable as you can get.

Draught, BTAH.

Pours dark brown with red highlights, opaque. Nice creamy, khaki head.

Nose hints at bourbon, a bit of vinous acidity, atop a sweet, bready malt.

Flavor is vinous and a bit tart up front, slight acidity, tangy. Dry finish - the bourbon really shines in the finish.

Mouthfeel is smooth, light but crisp carbonation.
